International energy logistics provider, Peterson, has agreed a contract extension with Shell to provide quayside, warehousing and transport services from Peterson’s Lowestoft base.

Peterson has supported Shell from the east coast of England since 2015 and the new contract will see that support continue until at least January 2022.

Jason Hendry, Regional Director at Peterson, said of the award: “We are delighted to extend our support to Shell and look forward to the next chapter of our working relationship. Over the past five years we have worked closely with Shell, collaborating with them to fully understand their long-term needs and support them accordingly.

“This contract extension is testament to the relationship we have developed with Shell, and the hard work of the Peterson team.”

Improvements to the Lowestoft site are also due to be completed soon, with Peterson installing a new fuel facility to deliver a fuel facility with the capability and capacity to service any vessel that comes into the port. John Shade, UK Fuel Manager, said of the facility: “This fuel facility provides operators from the oil and gas and offshore wind sectors with another reason to use Lowestoft as their port of choice. Working in partnership with GEOS Group, we have created a competitively priced solution in a convenient location for this market.”

In addition to their Lowestoft base, Peterson supports clients from three other locations in England. From their Heysham site they offer integrated logistics solutions to energy clients operating in the East Irish Sea, from the movement of cargo to warehousing and inventory management. They are also well placed to provide commodity logistics support between Ireland and mainland UK.

At Lillyhall they provide a dedicated receipt and distribution facility for a nearby power plant, and from Great Yarmouth they provide materials management support to a number of clients, including Shell who they have supported from the site since 2008. Peterson also operates the decommissioning facility in the outer harbour where works are currently ongoing.
