The impact of IMO 2020: part six

During the past 18 months, ExxonMobil has discussed the implications and challenges of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) imminent 2020 sulfur cap with marine industry stakeholders.

The ‘Talking Points’ series – a six-part video series shot in locations across the world – pitted ExxonMobil against leading industry figures as they discussed IMO 2020 across games made from sulfur concrete. The very element at the heart of this regulation became the platform for discussion, debate and plotting the journey to 2020.

In the final video of the series, DNV GL’s Director Environment, Eirik Nyhus, and Business Development Manager, Christos Chryssakis, discussed the myths behind the carriage ban, managing cylinder oil transitions and the likely impact of enforcement while palying a game of pool with Luca Volta and Joseph Star, Global Aviation and Marine Offer Advisor, ExxonMobil.



“The series has been a real journey, charting the debate and key issues surrounding the lead up and implementation of the upcoming sulfur cap,” said Luca Volta. “The insights gained at every step of the way from independent, expert voices within the international marine space ahead of the biggest change the industry has seen in many years, has been invaluable.
