Biogest has announced that it has completed a 100% grass anaerobic digestion (AD) plant.

The Willand AD plant, located in southwest England, can be operated with a variety of feedstock including grass silage and fresh zero cut grass to produce pure biomethane, which is injected into the natural gas grid.

The proof of performance test using 100% grass silage and fresh grass was completed in August 2018.

The plant can produce of 1000 m3/h of gas. The plant has fulfilled the forecasted performance and is maintaining a stable operation.

The plant is completely automated and controlled via a user-friendly operating system. All of the measurements and parameters are logged, allowing the plant processes to be recorded and permanently monitored on an ongoing basis.

The plant will be supported by the Biogest Service team.
