Azran Osman-Rani, one of Malaysia’s most respected entrepreneurs and founding CEO of AirAsia X, who now leads health technology firm Naluri, will highlight the benefits to the energy industry of bringing a tech-enabled focus to the health and wellbeing of its people during the OPITO Global Conference on 6 November 2019.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, OPITO Global is the only international event focusing on energy industry safety and competency. Industry leaders and experts will share their insights on Safety 4.0, exploring how technology is helping to improve safety, health and wellbeing.

Recently adopted by a large Malaysian oil and gas company, Naluri’s digital therapeutics platform helps people embrace healthier lifestyles with behavioural and psychological programs personalised to meet their emotional, mental, and physical needs.

Osman-Rani said: “A greater focus on mental health and wellbeing can help people make positive changes that then improve safety and productivity. Encouraging people to identify triggers in their own behaviour starts to free people to adopt more positive ways of thinking. Digital technologies have enabled new ways of providing continuous support to employees.”

OPITO CEO John McDonald commented: “The health and wellbeing of employees is vital to safe operations and we look forward hearing how technology is empowering people. Azran’s experience in creating challenger brands such as AirAsia X and successful digital companies will be equally fascinating to the international energy audience at OPITO Global.”

Mr Osman-Rani was the founding CEO of AirAsia X, leading the start-up team that developed the business plan, raised capital, secured relevant licenses and launched the airline in 2007. By 2014, it had grown rapidly from one to 26 aircraft, employing over 2500 people with revenues of more than US$1 billion.

A successful technology entrepreneur, Osman-Rani is a co-founder and investor in iflix, MoneyMatch, Cognifyx and YellowPorter. Prior to AirAsia X, he was involved with Astro All Asia Networks, where he led the start-up of media, creative content and technology investment and joint ventures across Southeast Asia, India and China.

OPITO Global is the only international event that focuses on energy industry safety and competency. Celebrating its 10th anniversary year, over 400 delegates will hear insights from global industry leaders and renowned experts in safety and competency at the Four Seasons Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Astronaut Time Peake will give the opening keynote address, sharing his experience onboard the International Space Station and the simulated technologies that helped him get mission ready.
