Refinery of the Future 2021 offers a programme packed full of interesting and insightful content on the outlook for the refining sector, with a look at some of the trends and innovations that will shape the future of the industry.

Register for free today to ensure that you don't miss out on a range of technical presentations from leading downstream companies, as well as a live Q&As with industry experts on 5 May 2021.

Our speakers will cover a range of interesting topics, including the following:

What and where is oil demand? - Alan Gelder, Wood Mackenzie

This presentation will detail the recovery of global oil demand through 2021 and the coming decade, identifying key growth sectors and their location. This demand growth will be compared to the projected capacity additions to assess refinery utilisation and profitability. Does the need for further refinery capacity rationalisation remain?

Despite a challenging year for many, several refiners thrived. Is petrochemical integration critical to long-term commercial sustainability?

Corporates are committing to lower emissions targets and clean energy projects are hot topics. How do emissions influence portfolio decisions? Do liquid biofuels offer a conversion opportunity for weak refiners?

AI-Powered Operations and Maintenance Strategies: Assets and People Working Together - Carlos Pazos, Honeywell Connected Industrial

In the refinery of the future, production is maximised by taking assets to their technical limits without compromising their integrity or the quality of the final product. This demands smart strategies for the proactive identification of issues to keep assets up and producing to the best of their capabilities. Predictive analytics are at the heart of these strategies, which are complemented with collaborative solutions for teams to rapidly identify the cause, consequences and corrective actions for the problem at hand.

Join this session to discover how real-world applied AI/ML is delivering the next step change in productivity and reliability in refining operations. Honeywell will demonstrate its solutions for Asset Performance Management, how to democratise data science for your operations and maintenance teams, and how to extend this collaboration with field operators to aid in the resolution of issues.

How Downstream Became Among the Top Safety Performers in the Manufacturing Sector - Lara Swett, AFPM

Today the refining and petrochemical industries have a 30 year track record in safety – having reduced their incident rates for process safety over 50% and occupational safety over 60% –placing them at the top of the list of 509 other manufacturing industries for lowest injury and illness rates. Our companies are always looking for ways to improve, whether it be the through learning and development, safety, or pushing the envelope on technology use. This presentation will review the path AFPM and its members have taken to advance safety in petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing across the country; and how our next steps will continue to move the needle by leveraging digital technologies to improve human performance programs.

API PSSAP®: Looking ahead with new offerings and API RP-751 Version 5 - Colin M. Frazier and Ryan Meng, American Petroleum Institute (API)

In 2020, API launched two new Process Safety Site Assessment Program (PSSAP®) protocols, as well as started work to substantially rework its RP-751 assessment protocol. In this presentation, API will introduce its two newest offerings for assessment: the Product Storage and Transfer protocol as well as the Incident Learning protocol. API will also discuss Version 5 of RP-751, which will be published this year and will include many changes to the previous version. API will be aligning its RP-751 protocol to this new version so that its program reflects the newest good practices and requirements of RP-751 V5.

Refinery of the Future: Securing a Future through Integration - Keith Couch, Honeywell UOP

The Refinery of the Future will have the flexibility to meet rapidly changing market needs – and integrate petrochemicals – to unlock additional value. Connected technologies will provide additional benefits through performance optimisation. The Refinery of the Future provides a strategic and stepwise method to invest in new process technologies that target low-value streams for conversion to greater value creation.

In this presentation, Honeywell UOP will highlight recent advances in crude-to-chemicals and provide some integration strategies that enable refiners to improve their economics in fuels markets, improve their market position through diversification into petrochemicals, or both.

This online conference will also offer a host of interactive features for attendees including: text chat, video conferencing, and a virtual exhibition!
