Hydrocarbon Engineering,
BSR delivered 420 m³ of DO oil to PVOIL Laos, a subsidiary of PetroVietnam Oil Corp. (PVOIL). According to the Central Region representative of PVOIL TRANS (the transport unit), the DO shipments were received from Dung Quat Refinery and then routed through Bo Y International Border Gate in Quang Ngai Province for consumption in the Lao market. The journey to the distribution sites in Laos is expected to take approximately 3 - 4 days.
Earlier, BSR had worked closely with Somvanchaleun Petroleum Jelly Co., Ltd to finalise cooperation plans and directly export DO oil to Laos. On 24 – 25 July 2025, BSR exported approximately 315 m³ of DO oil using seven tank trucks. These shipments cleared customs at Na Meo Border Gate, Thanh Hoa Province, on 28 July 2025.
BSR President and CEO, Nguyen Viet Thang, commented: “Expanding exports to the Lao market is a strategic move that demonstrates BSR’s flexible supply capacity and its effective integration into Petrovietnam’s value chain. While prioritising domestic demand, BSR also adapts to export opportunities when supply-demand conditions allow. We are committed to maintaining stable product quality, meeting international technical and environmental standards, and ensuring safety across all export-import and logistics operations. This initial success will pave the way for building sustainable markets and customer bases in Laos and neighbouring countries, optimising Dung Quat Refinery’s operations, and enhancing company performance.”
The DO export deal is not just a short-term commercial success but also holds long-term strategic value. The initial trial cooperation sets the stage for increased volumes, product diversification, and sustainable partnerships, such as establishing transshipment points, satellite depots, or long-term supply agreements. On a broader scale, BSR’s increased presence in the Lao market strengthens the special Vietnam-Laos friendship, fosters regional economic integration, and contributes positively to the energy security of both nations.
