Atlas Copco launches PACE system

Atlas Copco is launching two multi-use portable compressors featuring a breakthrough 'Pressure Adjusted through Cognitive Electronics' (PACE) system, which enables multiple pressure and flow settings to precisely suit the application need. The unprecedented versatility of the XAVS 186 means a single compressor, which can be set to operate anywhere between 7 and 14 bar, efficiently provides power for jobs that previously would have required multiple machines.

Using the intuitive PACE system, the XATS 186 can be set at intervals of 0.2 between 7 - 10 bar, while the XAVS 186 can be customised in the same way between 7 - 14 bar. As a result, users can accurately match air flow and pressure to their needs with only one machine, whether the compressor is used in abrasive blasting, quarrying, construction drilling or powering handled tools. Users benefit from better fuel economy while improving the overall utilisation of the unit and achieving a higher return on investment.

Free air delivery ranges from 9.8 -11.4 m3/min. for the XATS 186 and 10.1 - 11.4 m3/min. for the XAVS 186. The 186 range extends the compressor oil service interval to 1000 hours or every two years, which helps maximise uptime and minimise costs.

Both models incorporate Atlas Copco’s acclaimed air element and the high performing John Deere Stage IV engine. When coupled with the PACE system, the end result is a compressor that offers improved efficiency, reliability and durability while keeping the total cost of ownership as low as possible.

Ben Van Hove, Vice President of Marketing in Atlas Copco’s Portable Energy division, said, “For operators who are using multiple machines to cover flow demands of up to 11 m3/min. and pressure from 7 - 14 bar, now is the time to stop. With the 186 range, only one compressor is needed to cover these diverse needs. This is the result of intensive development of our pioneering PACE system, which truly puts power and control in the hands of the user in a way that has never previously been possible.”

Additionally, the built-in XC2003 controller puts the operator in complete control and offers multiple simple to use features, including monitoring the use of the compressor and issuing a prompt when planned service interventions are required.

Being lightweight and compact, the 186 compressors are easily towed and a number of towing accessories are available as options. Other options include jockey wheel or leg support, road light system, wheel chocks, quality air additions such as after cooler and bypass valve, cold start, safety cartridge, spark arrester and inlet shutdown valve.
