INEOS Oligomers expands DIB offering

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

INEOS Oligomers has announced the expansion of its global DIB offering with the introduction of DIB99S (Diisobutylene 99% with BHT), a high-purity hydrocarbon olefin formulated with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) antioxidant to help maintain product integrity and reduce olefin oxidation during storage.

DIB99S is designed to deliver consistent performance in applications where purity, stability, and controlled reactivity are critical. The inclusion of BHT, a widely used antioxidant and chemical stabiliser, helps protect the material from oxidative degradation, supporting longer shelf life and reliable processing performance.

“DIB99S reflects INEOS Oligomers’ commitment to providing high-quality, well-stabilised hydrocarbon building blocks for demanding applications,” said Gary Gudac, North American Technical Manager at INEOS Oligomers. “By combining high-purity diisobutylene with an effective stabiliser, we offer customers a dependable solution that supports both performance and handling requirements.”

Diisobutylene 99S is a unique C8 olefin with an industry leading 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-1 (TMP1) content. The product is synthesised via isobutene dimerisation and is used as a key reactive intermediate and is well suited for use in applications such as polymer modification, lubricant additives, and other specialty chemical synthesis where controlled stability and high TMP1 content are essential.
