Bruker launches benchtop analyser for petrochemical quality control

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

At the Gulf Coast Conference, Bruker announced the launch of the S2 POLARTM, a multi-element benchtop analyser based on polarised energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF).

The technology is to be used for quality control in the petrochemicals industry.

The S2 POLAR analyses ultra-low sulfur (ULS) content in gasoline, kerosene, and diesel.

It also measures chlorine and phosphorus levels, for corrosion and residue build-up prevention, respectively.

In oil manufacture and blending, the measurement of additives in lubricating oils, e.g. magnesium, calcium, zinc and molybdenum, is important for the efficient use of additives and the minimisation of production costs.
