TMC Compressors of the Seas (TMC) has signed a contract to supply complete marine compressed air systems and associated equipment to three LNG carriers that Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) is building for TMS Cardiff Gas Ltd.
TMC’s scope of supply is to provide 2 x control air compressors, 1 x service air compressor, 2 x SCR (selective catalytic reduction) compressors, 2 x N2 (nitrogen) feed air compressors and 2 x refrigerant air dryers for each of the vessels. TMC’s contract value is undisclosed.
TMS Cardiff Gas has signed a contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea (HHI) for the construction of three 174 000 m3 LNG carriers with XDF propulsion. Estimated delivery for the vessels are 2020.
The first vessel will enter into a seven year time charter contract with Total Gas & Power Chartering Ltd, while the two others are earmarked to undisclosed oil majors.
“This is a significant equipment order to three big vessels,” says Hans Petter Tanum, TMC’s Director of Sales and Business Development. “It is highly encouraging to see that our marine compressed air systems seem to be the favoured solution for the majority of newbuild LNG vessels. Operators are increasingly focusing on high quality compressors to keep operational expenditure to a minimum during the lifetime of the vessel. This seems to benefit us.”
