Technip awarded contract for NCRA hydrogen plant

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Technip, in consortium with its construction partner Performance Contractors Inc., has been awarded a contract by the National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) for the supply of their proprietary reforming technology.

The contract additionally provides for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the No. 2 hydrogen plant equipment at NCRA’s refinery in McPherson, Kansas.

The 40 million ft3/d (45 000 m3/hr) plant is part of an expansion project that will allow NCRA to upgrade this refinery.

The project is to utilise Technip’s high efficiency top fired steam reformer to produce high purity hydrogen and export steam and the latest nitrogen oxide reduction technology to ensure minimum emissions. The contract covers engineering, fabrication, supply, installation, precommissioning and start up assistance.

Technip’s operating centre in Claremont, California, will execute the project. The upgrade is scheduled for completion in early 2015.
