Safe Loading Pass Scheme

UK PIA, with support and scheme management from the Tank Storage Association, has signed an agreement with the Freight Transport Association to launch a revised Safe Loading Pass Scheme (SLPS). The scheme provides a means to control the risks associated with loading road tankers at fuel distribution terminals.

First established in the 1980s, the SLPS has been an integral part of a petroleum terminal’s safety management system. Its revision aims to cater for changes within the fuel distribution industry and ensures that road tankers have been inspected for compliance and meet specified safety standards for admittance to fuel loading terminals participating in the scheme.

A new website and database, together with revised standards and assessments for inspection locations will ensure the scheme continues to grow and develop.’

This means that our members can be assured that the road tanker entering their terminals meet the stringent safety standards required by the SLPS.’
