Statement by American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers President and CEO Chet Thompson on President Donald Trump's Energy Independence Executive Order: "We are pleased that the Trump Administration has followed through on one of its key campaign promises of regulatory reform. Today's executive order is the first step in unwinding policies that have stifled the American energy and manufacturing sectors.
"By revisiting regulations such as the Clean Power Plan, and advocating for pro-growth, pro-energy policies, America's energy producers will no longer be handcuffed by arbitrary regulations that seek to keep our resources in the ground. Today's action will provide essential relief to consumers and manufacturers, ending unnecessary restrictions that would drive up the cost of energy and obstruct job growth.
"We believe that regulations must be reasonable, cost-effective, and transparent and are pleased that this administration shares our view. We look forward to working with it to develop an energy policy that utilises the full potential of our manufacturing and energy sectors, as well as our abundant and natural resources."
