Aether Fuels establishes advisory board to accelerate commercialisation of sustainable fuels

The establishment of the Advisory Board marks an important milestone for Aether as the company advances the commercialisation of its proprietary Aurora^TM technology platform and continues developing commercial projects globally, including Project Beacon. The Advisory Board will provide strategic guidance as Aether expands industry partnerships, advances project development, and brings next-generation sustainable fuel production to the market.

Advisory board members

David Hone

David Hone is a climate and energy expert with more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He serves as Chief Climate Change Adviser at Shell International and works within Shell’s scenarios team, where he focuses on climate strategy, energy transition pathways, and the practical implementation of decarbonisation solutions. Earlier in his career, he worked as a refinery engineer in Australia and the Netherlands, then moved into oil trading in London, where he held a number of senior roles before taking on his climate advisory position in 2001. He has also served as a board member of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute, was previously a board member of the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, and served as Chairman of the International Emissions Trading Association from 2011 to 2013. He is also the author of Putting the Genie Back: Solving the Climate and Energy Dilemma.

David G. Victor

David G. Victor is Professor of Innovation and Public Policy at the University of California San Diego, Co-Director of the UC San Diego Initiative on Deep Decarbonization, and Director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Carbon Removal Initiative. His work sits at the intersection of climate policy, energy systems, and the political economy of decarbonisation, with a focus on how emissions reductions can be achieved in the real world where economic and political constraints matter. Before joining UC San Diego, he served as Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and directed Stanford’s Program on Energy and Sustainable Development. Over the course of his career, he has advised a wide range of organisations including BP, Chevron, Duke Energy, the World Bank, the OECD, and multiple United Nations bodies. He is also one of the most widely published voices in climate policy, with books including Fixing the Climate, Making Climate Policy Work, and Global Warming Gridlock.

Lina Lee

Lina Lee is a global energy, finance, and strategy executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience across petrochemicals, trading, treasury, and corporate development. She previously served as CFO & VP Strategy for BP’s Global Petrochemicals business, where she led strategic transformation, risk management, and digital initiatives designed to improve resilience and operational performance. Her career at BP also included senior roles in strategy, commercial development, and operational excellence, as well as serving as Chief Executive of Trading & Shipping for BP China. Earlier in her career, she held finance roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Air Products. Today, she serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Valeura Energy, where she sits on the Audit & Risk Committee and the Governance, Nomination & Compensation Committee, and brings deep experience in governance, cross-border growth strategy, and navigating the energy transition across global markets.

Sheila Remes

Sheila Remes retired in April 2024 as Vice President of Environmental Sustainability at The Boeing Company, capping a 30-year career with one of the world’s leading aerospace companies. During her time at Boeing, she held a range of leadership roles spanning environmental sustainability, strategy, commercial airplanes, marketing, sales, and engineering, including serving as Vice President of Strategy for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Prior to Boeing, she also spent 10 years in the airline industry, with experience at America West supporting the technical side of operations as an engineer and at United supporting the commercial side of the business. She currently serves on the boards of the World Affairs Council of Seattle and Forest Ridge of the Sacred Heart School, and on the advisory boards of the International Aviation Women’s Association and the UCLA Institute for Carbon Management. Her work today continues to focus on sustainable aviation, leadership development, and supporting women and girls pursuing STEM careers.

Eric (Ric) Redman Transitions to Advisory Board Effective 1 September 2026

Eric (Ric) Redman will also join Aether's Advisory Board, transitioning from his executive leadership role after four years helping guide the company through its early formative years. Since joining Aether, Redman has played an integral role in shaping the company's corporate strategy, government affairs, and project development efforts. His leadership has helped position Aether for its current phase of commercialisation. Redman brings more than 40 years of experience across the energy, electric power, environmental, and renewable energy sectors. Throughout his career, he has led the development of more than 8 GW of renewable energy and state-of-the-art power projects across North America and has been a pioneer in renewable energy policy, carbon capture and sequestration, and clean energy project development. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M.A. from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and has built a career at the intersection of business, policy, and the energy transition. His transition to the Advisory Board reflects both the evolution of Aether's organisation and the company's continued growth.
