Jay Faison, the Founder and CEO of the ClearPath Foundation, a company dedicated to building support for conservative clean energy solutions for the 21st century through market-based principles that capitalise on innovation, has issued the following statement in advance of President Obama's final State of the Union Address to Congress:

"President Obama's last State of the Union address provides a unique opportunity to change the clean energy debate and introduce new ideas and policies conservatives can support. Proponents of bigger government and heavy handed regulation shouldn't be the only voices advocating for change. There are conservative clean energy solutions we need to start embracing that will lead us into the 21st century.

"Conservatives can win on clean energy. Unlike the subsidies and red tape that have characterised current government policy, we shouldn't continue to ignore cleaner technologies like hydroelectric and nuclear power that make up nearly 80% of our current clean energy supply and have been pushed aside by this Administration.

"It's past time to stop pointing fingers and start applying market based principles that capitalise on innovation. ClearPath is working to stimulate such a debate and mobilise conservatives. We can strengthen the state of our union and ensure our energy security with a conservative policy agenda that will foster a cleaner environment for future generations."
