Burckhardt Compressions wins MEG plant contract

Burckhardt Compression has announced that it will deliver its Laby® compressor system for the largest monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant in the US.
The MEG plant - located in Lake Charles, Louisiana – will have a capacity of 700 000 tpy. It forms part of a larger project primarily comprising the construction of an ethane cracker facility, and is expected to be operations in 2019.
The multi-stage Laby® labyrinth piston compressor guarantees the continuous compression and delivery of 8050 kg/h of process gas at a pressure of 2.09 MPa (abs). It will be delivered as a complete reclaim compressor system including an electric motor drive, skid-mounted oil system and skid-mounted water console with a standalone air-cooled heat exchanger.
The compressor is designed to compress bone-dry, dirty, abrasive and other gases. The gastight casing reduces gas emissions and losses to the environment to virtually zero.
