EIL signs contract with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation

Engineers India Limited (EIL) has formally entered into a contract with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to supply project management consultancy (PMC) for the installation of Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) Unit 2 in Chittagong, Bangladesh, for a sum of US$16.545 million.
The contract was signed on 19 April 2016 in the presence of the Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan; State Minister for Power and Energy of Bangladesh, Nasrul Hamid; and other senior officials of EIL, BPC and ERL. This is the largest single consultancy assignment for EIL in Bangladesh.
BPC will implement the ERL Unit 2 project at a cost of US$1.7 billion (approximately BDT15 000 crore) over the next three years. ERL was set up at Patenga in 1968, and its installed refining capacity is 1.5 million tpy. Following the implementation of this project, this will increase to 4.5 million tpy.
