Dangote refinery to be operational by 2018

According to the Management of Dangote Petrochemicals and Fertiliser Plant, the 650 000 bpd petroleum refinery will be operational by 2018.
Senior General Mananger, Civil and Structural, Dangote Petrochemicals Ltd, Madhav Kelkar, announced that the refinery would increase the Nigeria’s refinery capabilities, and added: “Assembly and coupling of equipment will take only a couple of months. I think we are making progress and I’m happy with what we have done so far.”
Kelkar also stated that upon completion, Nigeria would be self sufficient with regards to oil refining and that the refinery would offer more than 2000 jobs.
The petrochemicals plant is expected to produce 750 000 tpy of polypropylene and the fertiliser plant is expected to produce 2.8 t of urea and ammonia.
