Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has announced that it will carry out an extensive and intense maintenance programme at the Francisco I. Madero refinery in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The company is developing various actions to improve the operational efficiency of the National Refining System in order to meet the profitability objective, as established in the 2017 - 2021 Business Plan. The strategy focuses on increasing the production of refined products of greater economic value, such as gasoline and diesel.
In this sense, Pemex Transformación Industrial will carry out a comprehensive maintenance programme at the Francisco I. Madero refinery.
This procedure will ensure the safety and reliability of the refinery's operational processes and will contribute decisively to the improvement of its performance levels. Pemex confirmed that it is taking appropriate commercial actions to ensure the supply of oil in the country during the shutdown. By the end of December 2017, it is estimated that the refinery will achieve operational stability so that it reaches its optimal level, reversing negative financial results.
