According to various sources, the Port of Lamu, Kenya, has received a second shipment of heavy machinery for the planned refinery in Kenya, led by Dangote Group. The project, with an estimated total cost of US$17 billion, is expected to process 700 000 bpd of crude oil for Kenya and East Africa.

In addition to diesel, petrol, and jet fuel production, the facility will also host fertilizer and petrochemical facilities.

In the latest shipment, a total of 154 pieces of equipment arrived, following the first shipment in late September, totalling approximately 3000 t.

The Lamu site will serve as an industrial and logistics hub that will strengthen the region, reducing reliance on imported refined petroleum products for Kenya and other markets across Eastern Africa.
