hte and SINOPEC RIPP intensify collaboration

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

hte has announced the handover of three high throughput testing systems for the development of petroleum refining technology to SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) in Beijing, China.

The business deal between SINOPEC RIPP and hte was signed in early 2015. It comprises the manufacturing and distribution of three high throughput reactor systems for the accelerated research and development of petroleum refining technology and catalysts. The test units were delivered and installed at RIPP’s laboratory in Beijing in 2016.

In high throughput experimentation, small-scale testing reduces the amount of feed and catalyst required, while the quality of the data remains high and is comparable to pilot plant data. SINOPEC RIPP hopes that hte’s R&D technology will allow it to reduce time-to-market for new catalyst solutions.

The collaboration between the two companies started in 2011 when SINOPEC RIPP acquired a high throughput system for the research and development of naphtha reforming catalysts.

“With our research activities, we strive to become a world-renowned R&D centre in petroleum refining and petrochemical integration fields. We appreciate the huge value of high throughput experimentation for expanding our business globally. In hte we have found the perfect partner to support our catalyst development, and we hope to intensify our cooperation in the future,” said Wang Yamin, Vice President of SINOPEC RIPP.

Wolfram Stichert, CEO of hte, commented: “I am very proud that we were able to cultivate our partnership with SINOPEC RIPP. China is a very important market to us. This successful project shows that our business efforts in China are very fruitful. We are honoured to be able to lift this long-term relationship to a new level.”
