ExxonMobil to shut Beaumont refinery

Published by
Hydrocarbon Engineering,

According to a report released on 13 January, Exxon Mobil will shut the smaller of two crude units at its 350 000 bpd Beaumont, Texas refinery from the second half of April for a period of up to 90 days.

The routine planned maintenance will impact a 130 000 bpd crude distillation unit as well, and all of its related operations. The facility turnaround has been organised to commence the week of 17 April 2016. Some of the most recent US oil data has reported an abundance of gasoline and distillates, which may be a reason as to why ExxonMobil would find it an opportune time to shut the refinery.

A spokesperson for the company had no immediate comment on the report and no press release had been posted online.
