On 5 October, the US Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) announced a new award package valued at almost US$8 million that will fund 10 US pipeline safety and R&D projects.
The projects will help develop innovative solutions to further improve pipeline safety.
The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) released the following statement by Rob Benedict, Senior Director of Petrochemicals, Transportation and Infrastructure, applauding the award package: “Pipelines are critical for safely, cleanly and efficiently delivering the energy and chemical products that drive our economy and make modern life possible. Ongoing advancements in midstream technologies by AFPM member companies, supply chain partners and other experts are essential to making pipelines even safer, and we applaud PHMSA for this programme encouraging that continuing innovation.”
