NARL Refining Limited Partnership (NARL) is preparing to make changes to its workforce as a response to the economic pressures that have forced many other refineries throughout the world to close in recent months.
Current economic conditions and the impending regulatory changes, require the refinery to optimise its operational costs and improve its competitive advantage. As a result of these stipulations, NARL has had to make the difficult decision to reduce its workforce by 128 people.
The company has stated that "the decision was very difficult, but necessary to secure the refinery’s future. We understand the impact this will have on people and their families, and we have put a number of resources in place to provide support during this time."
The NARL Refining Limited Partnership has assured that it is committed to securing the refinery’s future in Newfoundland and Labrador, and intends to preserve as many jobs as possible.
