LyondellBasell has announced that its Hostalen ‘Advanced Cascade Process’ (Hostalen ACP) technology has been selected by PRPC Polymers Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), for use in a high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit.
The HDPE unit will be constructed in the company’s Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia.
Datuk Nur Iskandar A. Samad, Project Director (Petrochemical) for project RAPID at PRPC Polymers said: “We selected the Hostalen ACP process technology for its exceptional ability to produce high performance film and pipe products that allows us to meet the growing demand for specialty petrochemical products in the region”.
Petronas already licensed the two LyondellBasell polypropylene (PP) process technologies Spherizone and Spheripol for the RAPID complex in Malaysia.
Hostalen ACP process technology manufactures high performance, multimodal HDPE resins with an excellent stiffness/toughness balance, impact resistance, high stress cracking resistance and processing advantages used in film, blow molding and pipe applications.
