Ducon Technologies (I) Pvt. Ltd (DTIPL) has secured a pet coke pipe conveyor contract from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for the Guwahati refinery in a national competitive bidding process.

The scope of this turnkey contract also includes conveying of lime, fly ash and bed ash handling for the new boiler being installed at the refinery. Pet coke is lifted from its storage yard location and transported through Ducon’s advanced pipe conveying technology to the boiler island, travelling a distance of 700 m and at an elevation of 27 m. Ducon will provide the complete HAZOP study, basic and detailed engineering, and all equipment for disciplines such as civil, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation.

“Ducon qualified for this project through our successfully completed pipe conveyor projects at aluminum smelters in north east India and we secured this order against tough competition from global giants like Thyssenkrupp and Macmet,” said Aron Govil, Chairman & CEO of Ducon Group. “With more and more industries beginning to use pet coke as fuel for their boiler, we believe that this project will position us as a leading player in this segment utilizing pipe conveyor technology,” continued Govil.
