Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser recently joined 21 of his colleagues across the US in submitting an amicus brief to the US Supreme Court, calling for a ban on job discrimination against LGBTQ Americans.
In a statement, Colorado Petroleum Council Executive Director Lynn Granger offered her full support of General Weiser’s leadership in fighting to ensure these crucial protections: “The natural gas and oil industry is thrilled to see Attorney General Weiser take decisive and meaningful action on behalf of Colorado and America’s LGBTQ community. We are a steadfast ally and advocate of LGBTQ Coloradans, and we are humbled to play a small but meaningful role in the continued effort toward full inclusion and equality for all.
“The Colorado Petroleum Council was honoured to join forces with One Colorado and the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce to sponsor and celebrate Pride last month, but we are committed to making it an everyday, year-round endeavour. We welcome every opportunity to partner with our LGBTQ allies, and we will continue to support all legislative and legal actions that put Colorado – and America – every step closer to justice for all.
“We applaud Attorney General Weiser for taking a leadership role on behalf of our state, and couldn’t be prouder to support his office’s efforts on behalf of LGBTQ Coloradans.”
The Colorado Petroleum Council is a division of the American Petroleum Institute (API), which represents all segments of the US’s oil and natural gas industry.
