Parkland Fuel Corporation appoints Domenic Pilla

Parkland Fuel Corporation, North America's fastest growing distributor and marketer of fuels and lubricants, today announced the appointment of Domenic Pilla to Parkland's Board of Directors; Mr. Pilla will join Parkland's Board effective immediately. Mr. Pilla most recently served as President and CEO of Shoppers Drug Mart, Canada's leading pharmacy and beauty retailer, with sales of over US$11 billion, and more than 52 000 employees across 1400 retail locations.
"Mr. Pilla's experience as a senior corporate executive, including his background in all aspects of petroleum downstream operations, refining, supply, retail and marketing will add considerable value and additional depth of perspective to Parkland's Board of Directors," said Jim Pantelidis, Chairman of the Board. "His experience in mergers and acquisitions, most recently evidenced by his leadership in the sale of Shoppers Drug Mart to Loblaw Companies is also a significant asset to Parkland and its Board. We are confident that Parkland and its shareholders will benefit greatly from his experience and are pleased to welcome him to the board."
Mr. Pilla began his career at Petro Canada where he worked for almost 20 years in various roles from engineering to marketing, culminating in his appointment as Vice President Refining and Marketing for Canada. From Petro Canada, Mr. Pilla went on to RNG Canada and then to McKesson Canada where he was President of both organisations. In his role as President and CEO of Shoppers Drug Mart Corporation, Mr. Pilla drove a significant improvement in financial performance via a number of initiatives ranging from customer strategy and employee engagement to stakeholder relations and organisation effectiveness. Mr. Pilla also led the recent sale of Shoppers Drug Mart to Loblaw Companies Limited.
Mr. Pilla earned his Honours Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from McGill University. Mr. Pilla is actively involved in the community as: Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Cancer Research Society; a member of the Ivey Council for Health Innovation and Leadership; and Governor of the Marie-Clarac Hospital Foundation.
