Hydrocarbon Engineering,

DIESTA

Recently GEA Batignolles Technologies Thermiques and Wieland Thermal Solutions, in partnership with Technip, have launched their new DIESTA heat exchanger technology for air cooled LNG plants. The new DIESTA technology developed by the three companies boosts the efficiency for air cooled LNG facilities. DIESTA is a combination of two established technologies for the outside and inside of a tube, the key component of an air cooler. For this development, the EPC company Technip and Wieland Thermal Solutions, have been associated with the air fin cooler and heat exchanger experts GEA Batignolles.

The DIESTA technology typically enables an increase in LNG production by 2 – 3%, while taking advantage of compression power savings. Moreover, the equipment footprint can be reduced by up to 20% due to a more compact design. Finally, the reduction in specific fuel gas consumption lowers CO2 emissions.

GEWA-safe

Weiland Thermal Solutions presented the GEWA-safe double wall safety tubes at Achema. The tubes feature defined leakage paths between the inner and outer tube for the absolute in the reliable separation of fluids. This ensures the highest system availability, efficiency and safety, as damage to inner or outer tubes is immediately recognisable and can be fixed as part of regularly scheduled maintenance.

The thermal contact of the two tubes results in outstanding heat transfer without additional heat transfer fluid. GEWA-safe tubes enable the manufacture of very compact heat exchangers, thus reducing material costs and fill levels. Depending on the desired application, the tubes are available with either smooth or profiled surfaces in copper, cupronickel and stainless steel.

GEWA-PB

In addition Weiland presented its current solutions for system efficiency increase in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries as well as in the power generation industries. GEWA-PB tubes have in the meantime proved successful in ethylene and LNG production. They enable a compact design of heat exchangers. The surface structure of the tube enhances the effect of nucleate boiling, thus intensifying the evaporation process.

GEWA-K, KS and Trufin S/T and TurboChil tubes

For the different requirements regarding thermal conductivity, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in the oil and gas processing industries, Wieland Thermal presented its portfolio of low finned tubes in a wide range of materials. GEWA-K, GEWA-KS as well as Trufin S/T and TurboChil tubes are manufactured in the materials carbon steel, stainless steel and titanium. They are mainly used in coolers, preheaters, condensers and evaporators to achieve savings in both the equipment as well as the overall plant design.
