Simotics XP Chemstar is a customised low-voltage motor solution from Siemens for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. These motors are offered with preconfigured industry-specific option packages tailored to the specific requirements of each sector. Benefits include fast, simple processes, standardised components and low lifecycle costs. These motors offer a high level of reliability under even extreme conditions and in potentially explosive atmospheres while providing precisely tailored compliance with industry-specific requirements. Added benefits include fast project execution, simple order placement, standardised documentation, short delivery times, simplified inventory and spare parts management and optimised service concepts. The motors are used in machines and applications such as pumps, compressors, fans, extruders, agitators and separators.
Siemens has combined its Chemstar product range with the properties of its Simotics XP low-voltage motor platform. The new generation of motors are available in a range from 0.25 – 500 kW covering ignition protection spectrum for zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 in Ex db, Ex eb, Ex ec, Ex tb and Ex tc. The motors are made with a highly robust design comprising an enclosure and bearing plates in grey cast iron and a fan cover in steel. The high level of efficiency (class IE3) and easy-maintenance design mean low operating costs for the user. A number of pre-defined industry-specific options are available, such as special coatings with category C4 high-level corrosion protection, stainless steel screws and bolts or extended warranty periods, which enable these motors to be used in the chemical or oil and gas sectors. The standardised documentation is flexibly configured to allow adaptation to both simple and highly complex projects.
