Worldwide Telemedicine acquires two new telemedicine units

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Worldwide Telemedicine (WWTM) has added two new telemedicine units that can be customised and deployed as part of its patient care delivery system. The new units will improve WWTM’s ability to support multiple clients around the globe virtually for medical emergencies in remote locations.

Medical care for oil and gas industry – reaching isolated and remote locations

The company’s telemedicine units are portable and run on AC power or battery and transmit via internet or satellite connection. The units provide cutting edge technology to deliver quality US medical care at the most remote, isolated worksites where healthcare access is limited, reducing the need for costly emergency transportations and effectively managing emergencies and injuries in real-time.

Unlike alternative telemedicine services, WWTM’s telemedicine units also allow for a case manager to be ‘patched-in’ in real-time to immediately record an employee's incident report, which can greatly increase the accuracy of OSHA recordables. WWTM’s OSHA-trained, occupational-medical ER doctors are physically present next to the telemedicine unit to answer calls, ensuring zero downtime between a call for assistance being placed and receiving a response from the doctor.

Reduced lost-time incidents

“Our telemedicine units enable clients to reduce lost-time incidents and boost their employees’ productivity,” said Michael Garcia, Managing Director, Worldwide Telemedicine. “We allow people to be connected and communicate effectively despite the geographical challenges commonly faced in the modern day oil and gas industry. We can now simultaneously manage patient care and host HIPPA-compliant web meetings in real-time with companies, patients and case managers whenever, and wherever, incidents or illnesses occur.”

The equipment additions are part of an ongoing investment by WWTM into cutting-edge technology to support its global growth in telemedicine services.
