Westlock Controls announce enhanced positioner capability

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Westlock Controls has announced enhanced network capability of its ICoT smart valve positioner series with the inclusion of the Profibus PATM (process automation) protocol.

Designed for use in petrochemical, oil and gas facilities, and process plants, the ICoT 5500 is suitable for roatry, linear, single or double acting applications. It operates over a large temperature range from -40 °C to 85 °C. The product additionally offers both auto and manual calibration, as well as diagnostics data that includes cycle count, travel count, total travel, and low pressure.

ICoT smart valve positioners can be mounted up to 150 ft away from the controlled device, and are ideal for valves that are located in high vibration or extremely corrosive environments.

The new positioners are based on Westlock Controls’ reliable 5000 positioner series. Enhanced features include:

  • Lower power consumption of 12 mA.
  • Remote mount capability.
  • Transmission reliability.
  • Three types of manifold: standard flow, high flow and super high flow.

The valve positioner is designed for use in hazardous areas and complies with US NEC standards in addition to ATEX, ICE and INMETRO certification for the rest of the world.

Mike Lutolf, Global Product Manager – Controls, commented: “We are pleased to announce the enhanced capabilities of our ICoT positioners. Extending the communication protocol of the product enables us to reinforce the reliability of the equipment as well as broadening our customer network.

“We ensure that our products’ process, maintenance and operational efficiencies are upheld by applying emerging technologies to set next generation standards”.
