Pentair’s new Biffi Diagnostic Communications Master 2 (DCM2) is a state of the art valve control solution that optimises network reliability and speed for enhanced safety for plant operations around the world. A component of a plant’s automation system, it delivers smart flow control for process valves where remote position monitoring is critical to employee and environmental safety.

An enhancement to the original diagnostic communications master, the DCM2 is a powerful, intelligent solution that makes connectivity simple while also delivering performance optimisation, predictive analytics and life cycle management. Providing better and faster communication and standardised systems language (versus proprietary system language), the DCM2 supports customers’ specifications that require a Master Station Control System to interface fields units with the plant’s distributed control system (DCS). The ultimate benefit of the DCM2 to customers is improved safety for the entire operation through comprehensive monitoring and control of up to 300 actuators through a multi-loop network.

“Anticipating and addressing our customers’ needs is always a high priority for Pentair’s engineering and product management teams. We understand that customers are now ready for a new generation of products. And we have responded with the development and introduction of the Biffi DCM2. The DCM2 has enhanced diagnostic capabilities to provide the fastest and most reliable response to every alarm and signal communication condition,” explained Ugo Baldereschi, Electric Actuators Product Manager for Pentair Valves & Controls, based in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, Italy.

The DCM2 is well suited for chemical, petrochemical, offshore (for remote conditions monitoring) and tank farms (for storage by refining and processing customers). The DCM2 serves these and other critical functions within a plant environment:

  • Configuration tool for fieldbus networks.
  • Gateway to higher control level in the plant.
  • Local control and maintenance station for field devices.

Pentair is now offering technical demonstrations of its DCM2 onsite at customer locations and online.
