Blackhawk Specialty Tools pledges support to Susan G. Komen

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

In an initiative to build awareness and strengthen industry support, Blackhawk Specialty Tools, LLC has painted its HD (Heavy Duty) Swivel pink for use in an offshore deepwater project combined with a donation to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

In conjunction with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Blackhawk’s HD Swivel will be used at Anadarko’s Heidelberg development well on the Rowan Resolute. Blackhawk’s pink-painted tools will also be available to customers around the world with a message explaining the new colour choice as an inspiration to join the fight to end breast cancer.

Blackhawk challenged other industry leaders and service providers to join the effort and go pink in October. Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer worldwide and the leading cause of cancer death in women. Now in its seventh year of company-wide support to the foundation, Blackhawk’s efforts are bigger than ever.

“We started out by wearing pink ribbons to show our support during the month of October,” said Ron Robichaux, VP of Blackhawk. “Each year, we gradually added different elements to our support for the cause. We’re proud of what we have achieved this year, and we believe our efforts will increase awareness and help find a cure.”

“The Susan G. Komen foundation has made a promise ‘to save lives and end breast cancer forever,’” added Billy Brown, President and CEO of Blackhawk. “As we rally around this effort, we know that we only are a small piece of the puzzle, but together, alongside the oil and gas industry, we can do good on a greater scale.”
