Schneider Electric marks new milestone in metering with PM5000

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

With the path to effective energy management starting with a detailed understanding of how it is being used, Schneider Electric is supporting businesses on the energy efficiency journey with the introduction of its ground-breaking PowerLogic PM5000 series meter.

Effectively setting a new benchmark for metering performance, the PM5000 unites high quality and affordability to provide high-end cost management capabilities in a straightforward metering platform. In one simple solution businesses can look to maximise operational efficiency, increase network reliability and improve business performance.

The innovative technology enables businesses to benefit from a truly holistic energy insight in order to perform tenant metering and sub-billing, pin-point energy savings, optimise equipment efficiency and utilisation, and perform a high level assessment of the power quality in an electrical network; all in one simple, easy-to-use solution.

The PM5000 series contains a range of MID approved meters, meaning they are certified according to the Measuring Instrument Directive and therefore can legally be used for sub billing applications. This removes any uncertainty in billing for energy costs, ensuring performance that non complaint devices cannot match.

The range is build around a standard 96 x 96mm cut-out, with a compact 72 mm depth and a back lit, anti glare display. With various features including simple pulsed output, modbus communication, on board data logging, imbedded web pages, dual Ethernet, up to four current inputs and the ability to support up to eight tariffs.

More so, ease of install and use is paramount. The PM5000 series is incredibly quick to fit, with a two-clip mounting and one-piece construction alleviating the need for any tools. For the end user, a simple graphical display screen boots an intuitive menu-driven navigation with the capability for a variety of report formats ensuring full ownership of their electricity costs and motivation to use energy wisely.

David Williams, Marketing Manager, EcoBusiness at Schneider Electric comments: “The PowerLogic PM5000 series has been designed to provide a simple metering process which effectively puts the end user in control, allowing users to clearly understand energy usage and identify patterns and trends, giving them the ability to control consumption and costs”.

“We have designed the range with Installers and panel builders in mind, ensuring quick installation and a wide range of communication outputs to suit an array of applications’.
