Clariant is part of an ongoing competition law investigation by the European Commission into the ethylene purchasing market. The company is said to be assisting the relevant authorities and cannot comment further on the details of an ongoing investigation.
This news follows the Commissions’ announcement that it would be carrying out raids at ethylene purchasing companies across the EU in light of fears that a ‘cartel’ has been formed.
"The fact that the Commission carries out such inspections does not mean that the companies are guilty of anti-competitive behaviour," the Commission said, without naming the companies it had raided.
