Hydrocarbon Engineering,

This summer, the world's largest and most well respected petrochemical construction event will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana. More than 700 senior level executives representing over US$140 billion of investment will come together to network, share best practice, and develop new thinking for the North American petrochemical construction industry.

The conference will feature world class speakers from highly respected companies including BASF, Sasol North America, The Dow Chemical Company and LyondellBasell, and will cover topics such as workforce restrictions, how to cut costs and improve productivity, new thinking on front end planning and how to define project execution plans.

Organisers promise this year's conference will be bigger and better than any before, featuring a brand new multi-track agenda which allows delegates to join focused sessions based on their project size. Track 1 will gather those who are working on projects over US$1 billion to look at improving predictability and outcomes, and to encourage new thinking within the industry, while Track 2 will assemble those working in plant-based and smaller projects, to focus on prioritisation and optimisation.

Additionally, on opening night, delegates will be treated to the petrochemical networking party of the year, as the PEC 2016 takes over the notorious House of Blues in New Orleans for a first rate networking event.

Although in its early years, this firmly established conference is well attended by owners, contractors and vendors alike, and organisations who attended in previous years have spoken very highly of the format, speakers and topics covered, with Axiall Corporation saying: "The PEC conference was beneficial to Axiall because of the access to owners and contractors that are executing projects with risk profiles that are similar to projects that we are considering. The speakers had good experiences that they were willing to share. The networking was professional and very well managed."

Building on the success of previous years, the event's organisers aim to focus on topics and issues that are critical to this constantly changing industry, and to bring together the ‘beyond best practice new thinkers’, to collaborate and innovate ideas for the next generation of industry professionals.

"The New Orleans Petrochemical Engineering & Construction 2016 Conference will be a meeting point for owners and contractors alike, to network and collaborate on strategies to reduce costs, and improve project outcomes for North American petrochemical projects," said Patrick McFall, Director Project Management Services of LyondellBasell.

Jerry Oliver, Vice President of Manufacturing & Projects at Yuhuang Chemical, Inc. added, "This year’s PEC 2016 conference will provide a good opportunity to connect with key stakeholders looking at new ways to improve performance and reduce costs in North American based projects."
