Iraq is currently looking for partners to help develop the Nassiriya oilfield and construct a refinery. The 300 000 bpd facility will be associated with the field and this is all part of a plan to expand the country’s downstream sector. Iraq currently has three refineries but is looking to expand its processing capacity by nearly 200 000 bpd through improvements the the three facilities by next year.
Kuwait National Petroleum Company has awarded consultancy contracts for two oil mega projects. KNPC has awarded Amec a consultancy contract for a new 615 000 bpd refinery and Foster Wheeler has been appointed consultant on a clean fuel project which will involve the upgrading of two of KNPC’s facilities. The contracts are worth US$ 30 billion in total.
