Canada

Petronas has announced that it is selling a 15% stake in Progress Energy’s LNG reserves in British Columbia to China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec).

Sinopec is the fourth in a consortium of buyers interested in the LNG project. The company is expected to oftake 1.8 million tpa of LNG for a minimum of 20 years.

The other companies include Japex Montney Ltd., PetroleumBrunei and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

USA

Louisiana

Phillips 666 Alliance refinery has begun restarting units after completing a planned overhaul that stretched over six weeks.

The restart is expected to be complete within two weeks, with all units, including the refinery’s 250 000 bpd crude distillation unit back to planned production levels.

UAE

Abu Dhabi Oil Refinery Co. (Takreer) has let a contract to Metso Corp. to supply valve technology to its 350 000 bpd refining complex in the UAE.

As part of the contract, Metso will deliver its Neles Globe control and on-off valves.

Nigeria

Aiteo is planning to develop a 100 00 bpd Greenfield refinery, which is expected to come onstream by 2017.

The refinery is currently in the conceptualisation stages. The company plans to fast track development and construction.
