Petroleum data: week ending 20 June 2014
Refining
US crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.7 million bpd during the week ending 20 June 2014, 275 000 bpd more than the previous week’s average. Refineries operated at 88.5% of operable capacity over the week. Gasoline production decreased and averaged approximately 9.1 million bpd. Distillate fuel production increased to average 4.9 million bpd.
Imports
Over the week, crude oil imports in to the US averaged over 7.3 million bpd, up by 107 000 bpd from the previous week. Over the last four weeks, crude oil imports have averaged over 7.2 million bpd, which is 9.4% lower than the same four week period last year. Total motor gasoline imports averaged 507 000 bpd last week and distillate fuel imports averaged 83 000 bpd.
Commercial inventories
Commercial crude oil inventories increased by 1.7 million bbls from the previous week. US crude oil inventories are in the upper half of the average range for this time of year at 388.1 million bbls. Last week, total motor gasoline inventories increased by 0.7 million bbls and are in the middle of the average range. Finished gasoline inventories decreased while blending components inventories increased last week. Distillate fuel inventories increased by 1.2 million bbls but are near the lower limit of the average range for the time of year. Propane/propylene inventories rose 2.4 million bbls last week and are in the upper half of the average range. Total commercial production inventories increased by 5.2 million bbls over the last week.
Supply
Total products supplied over the last four week period averaged 18.5 million bpd, a drop of 0.2% from the same period last year. Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline product supplied averaged approximately 9 million bpd, an increased of 1.7% from the same period last year. Distillate fuel product supplied averaged 3.9 million bpd over the last four weeks, a drop of 1.5% from the same period last year. Jet fuel product supplied is up 4.2% compared to the same four week period last year.
