ACE

ACE, Air Cooled Exchangers, acquired by Alfa Laval in 2012, has celebrated its 50th anniversary in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and is looking to the road ahead. The company hosted an anniversary celebration at its 18 acre facility in Brown Arrow which was attended by employees, customers, vendors, sales representatives, local officials and company executives.

ACE has manufactured high quality, custom engineering air cooled exchangers for the gas compression and gas processing markets, as well as other energy related markets since 1974. When acquired by Alfa Laval in 2012, ACE joined one of the world’s leading heat transfer, separation and fluid handling manufacturers.

BlueTech Research

BlueTech Research has announced that Marcus Oliver Gay has joined the company in the role of Senior Director, Research and Professional Services, effective immediately. Gay comes to BlueTech from IHS where he served as Director of Research and led the production of two multi client studies addressing water management challenges and market opportunities in the unconventional oil and gas industry. He brings more than 15 years of international expertise from work in the water environment and energy sectors. Prior to IHS he held research, product development and business development roles at GreenFuel Technology Corporation, Trophos Energy, Valicor and Elsevier.

Compass Compression Services

Compass Compression Services Ltd. and Compass Compression Solutions Ltd. have announced plans to build a new fabrication facility in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The new facility is strategically located to provide cold weather packages to Compass’ Canadian and Northern US customer base.

Construction of a new 75 000 ft² fabrication facility located in Calgary’s Southeast Frontier Industrial Park is scheduled to begin construction in July. Upon completion, expected in the second quarter of next year, Compass Compression will have approximately 125 000 ft³ of gas compression fabrication capacity. The addition of the new facility will increase the company’s fabrication capacity by approximately 50%.

Tall Oak Midstream

Tall Oak Midstream LLC has announced that the company will build a natural gas gathering and processing system in the Central Northern Oklahome Woodford play. The system will serve multiple producers targeting the play’s liquids rich, stacked pay zones including the Mississippi Lime, Woodford Shale and Cleveland formations. Tall Oak’s system will be anchored by a long term acreage dedication from American Energy. The dedication spans an area of approcimately 1 million acres that covers all previously undedicated acreage in Payne County and portions of Creek, Logan, Lincoln, Noble and Pawnee counties. In addition, AEW contributed it existing gathering lines in exchange for a minority interest in the Tall Oak system.

The initial system will include a 250 mile, low pressure gas gathering system with multiple compression sites and a state of the art cryogenic processing plant.

Velocys

Velocys plc has announced the acquisition of Pinto Energy LLC and the Ashtabula gas to liquids (GTL) project.

Pinto Energy is one of the leading project developers of smaller scale GTL in North America. As its first facility, Pinto Energy is developing an approximately 2800 bpd plant at an 80 acre industrial site that it owns near the port of Ashtabula, Ohio, US. The project will have access to abundant low cost natural gas from the Marcellus shale region, as well as benefitting from substantial existing infrastructure. Initial engineering for the facility is complete and the air permit has been issued. Final investment decision is expected within six to nine months. Future expansions could see installed capacity of 10 000 bpd or more at the site. In addition to Ashtabula, Pinto energy has a pipeline of smaller scale GTL projects it is seeking to develop throughout North America.

Woodfibre LNG

The race for Canada to join the world leading LNG exporters is continuing. Woodfibre LNG is aiming to build its proposed LNG plant onshore. These developments come at the same time as Pierdiae Energy awards CB&I the FEED contract for the Goloboro LNG facility in Nova Scotia.

Along with many other aspects of Canadian LNG exports, the projects cannot move forward without consultation and inclusion of the aboriginal communities. Local government are saying all parties are being included and yet some First Nations officials still have significant environmental concerns.
