As part of the ExxonMobil Foundation’s 2011 Educational Matching Gift Program, the company and its employees will be donating over US$ 40 million to colleges and universities throughout the US. Individuals linked to Exxonmobil have donated US$ 12 million to the cause, which was matched with US$ 28 million by ExxonMobil as a company.
‘The ExxonMobil Foundation has a long history of supporting a range of efforts to improve the quality of education in the US,’ said Suzanne McCarron, president of the ExxonMobil Foundation. ‘We are proud to build upon the generous support of ExxonMobil employees who are committed to investing in the future of young Americans.’
In Texas alone, individuals have contributed US$ 2.6 million, which has been matched with US$ 6.2 million by ExxonMobil.
