Siemens to supply combined cycle power plant components

Siemens has announced it will be the technology partner for the St. Joseph Energy Centre – a new 670 MW natural-gas-fired combined cycle power plant (CCPP). It is to be built by Kiewit Power Constructors Co. in St. Joseph County, Indiana. Siemens will supply F-class power plant technology including two gas turbines, one steam turbine as well as three generators. The facility will be capable of supplying resource-saving power for over 450 000 households.

Furthermore, the company signed 25-year long-term service and maintenance agreement. Siemens Financial Services (SFS) is supporting the project's construction by providing US$50 million. Commissioning of the plant is expected in spring 2018.

Siemens will deliver two SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST6-5000 steam turbine as well as three SGen-1000A generators for the St. Joseph Energy Centre CCPP near New Carlisle in Indiana, USA. The key components are to be installed in a 2x1-configuration with the heat exhaust of the gas turbines powering the steam turbine. The signed long-term services agreement includes Siemens' advanced remote monitoring services along with program parts, hardware, scheduled outage services and program management. The gas turbines and generators will be manufactured at Siemens' Charlotte Energy Hub, which is the main production facility for Siemens' 60 Hz power generation.
