Petrofac’s Offshore Projects and Operations business has been awarded a contract in Bahrain to supply a new gas dehydration facility – Petrofac’s first project in the Kingdom.

The signing of the new contract on 1 September will see the installation of a new 500 MMSCFD gas dehydration facility, which is the first of a series of planned gas capacity projects scheduled for the next three to five years. The project is a significant part of Tatweer Petroleum’s commitment to secure the delivery of natural gas needed to meet the growing demands of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Comments from Petrofac

“This award builds on our growing portfolio track record in the Middle East, where we’ve demonstrated our ability to safely deliver project performance and integrity,” said Manivannan Rajapathy, Deputy Managing Director, Petrofac Offshore Projects and Operations. “We now look forward to working closely with Tatweer Petroleum and to playing a key role in the successful future supply of energy from the Bahrain oilfield.”

“Installation of the new gas processing facility will be a significant milestone and is a critical piece of Bahrain’s future energy strategy,” said Andrew H. Kershaw, Chief Executive Officer for Tatweer Petroleum. “Signing this contract is the next big step forward for Tatweer Petroleum in the implementation of its long term development plan for the Bahrain oilfield and we are all very excited and proud to be able to move this ahead.”
