Gasoline prices decrease, propane inventories higher

According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) the US average retail price of regular gasoline decreased one cent to US$ 3.55/gal. as of 19th August 2013. This is 19 cents lower than for the same time last year.

Prices decreased in all regions bar the Midwest, where the price increased two cents to US$ 3.50/gal.

The largest decrease came on the West Coast, where the price fell six cents to US$ 3.78/gal.

East and Gulf Coast prices both fell two cents, to US$ 3.55/gal. and US$ 3.37/gal. respectively.

The Rocky Mountains price declined one cent to US$ 3.92/gal.

Meanwhile, the national average diesel price increased less than one cent to remain at US$ 3.90/gal, 13 cents lower than the same time last year.

Prices increased one cent in both the Midwest and on the West Coast to US$ 3.87/gal and US$ 4.06/gal. respectively.

East Coast prices remained constant at US$ 3.91/gal., and the Gulf Coast price remains at US$ 3.82/gal.

The Rocky Mountains price decreased one cent to US$ 3.92/gal.

Propane inventories slightly higher

Total US propane inventories rose slightly from last week to remain at 61.9 million bbl, but are 9.1 million bbl (12.8%) lower than for the same period a year ago.

Midwest inventories gained by 0.1 million bbl.

Rocky Mountains, East Coast and West Coast inventories all demonstrated a slight increase.

Gulf Coast inventories decreased by 0.1 million bbl.

Propylene non-fuel use inventories represented approximately 4.7% of total propane inventories.
