CNPC

China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) and its Russian partner Roseneft are expected to make the final decision on the construction of a new refinery in August. The decision has been delayed since the initial agreement in 2006, as the two companies are yet to decide on crude supply.

CNPC will begin leveling ground in the Yunnan province in October for the construction of the company’s first refinery in the area. The facility is expected to process 200 000 bpd and be online in 2012.

Sinopec

Crude processing volumes have been cut at the Sinopec owned Yangzi refinery due to weaker demand. The facility has been processing 141 000 bpd which is significantly lower than June’s production figure.

Keyuan Petrochemicals Inc.

Keyuan Petrochemicals Inc. has put in to service a new desulfurisation process at its BTX aromatics facility. The company invested US$ 4.4 million and is expected to recover the cost within two years.
