Italy gas storage project for Bilfinger EMS

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

A subsidiary of Bilfinger Industrial Technologies, Bilfinger EMS, has been awarded with an order for the supply of two low temperature gas heat exchangers for a new storage plant in Italy.

Stogit, a European leader in gas storage, started the gas storage plant project in 2006, with the aim of converting the depleted gas reservoir in Bordolano into a new gas storage plant. A compressor station and a gas treatment unit will be constructed for the storage plant, as will a pipeline of approximately 2 km, which will connect the 9 wells to the Italian gas grid.

At peak operating capacity, the total storage volume will be approximately 1.2 billion m3 gas. Commissioning is scheduled for 2015, with an initial storage capacity of approximately 0.8 billion m2.

Bilfinger EMS will be supplying low temperature seperation (LTS) gas heat exchangers to be used for the above ground facilities of the storage plant. These will be supplied in cooperation with the American company Koch Heat. Engineering has already commenced in 2013, delivery is expected in August 2014.
