ABB
ABB has appointed Claudio Facchin as Executive Committee member responsible for the Power Systems division, effective 1st December 2013. He succeeds Brice Koch, who will leave ABB on January 15th 2014. For the past four years, Facchin has led ABB’s business activities in the major markets China, Japan and South Korea as Chairman and President, North Asia.

Argentina
Foster Wheeler AG has announced that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Axion Energy Argentina S.A, a subsidiary of Bridas Corporation, to provide engineering and procurement services for a new delayed coking unit based on Foster Wheeler’s SYDEC (sm) delayed coking technology to be installed at the Campana Refinery, Buenos Aires Province. The contract value was not disclosed and was included in the company’s third quarter 2013 bookings.

India
A naphtha splitter has been set up and commissioned at the Assam Gas Cracker Project which is part of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. The unit will supply petrochemical grade naphtha to the project and cost Rs 87 crore. The unit was 100% internally funded.

USA
The West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association (WVONGA) has named Ryan Cunningham of Cunningham Energy to its Board of Directors. One of the oldest trade associations serving the oil and gas industry, WVONGA works to educate the public on issues related to oil and gas, and develop new avenues for natural gas usage. Its member base consists of over 200 companies representing a wide cross section of the oil and gas industry.

Holly Refining and Marketing Co. has won approval to expand the West Bountiful refinery in Utah. The expansion will allow the plant to process waxy crude from the Uinta Basin. Part of the approval obligates the company to install retrofits that will cut air emissions even though capacity is being doubled.

A fire broke out at the HollyFrontier Corp. Wood Cross refinery in Utah on Monday 18th November. The fire started in a hose that transports gas oil at 2:30pm and was contained by people employed at the facility. No one was injured.
