New Jersey

On Friday 15th October a unit key to gasoline production at the Baywater refinery was running at reduced rates. The plant, owned by ConocoPhillips experienced an unplanned shutdown on Friday of a compressor within the unit.

Quebec

An explosion at the east end Shell refinery resulted in two men being taken to hospital on 15th October. A malfunction occurred in a portable boiler causing it to explode at approximately 11 am.

South Dakota

Hyperion Refining has announced changes to plans for the construction of a refinery in Union County.  The changes to the US$ 10 billion facility will lower CO2 emissions by up to 400 000 tpy.

Texas

On Friday 15th October, ExxonMobil began restarting Gofiner No. 1 at its Baytown refinery. The unit removes sulfur from feedstock.

Trinidad

On Sunday 17th October a fire at the Petronin refinery forced the evacuation of nearby residents. The refinery is located near the capital Port-of-Spain. The fire started in a flare stack.
