Petroleum Development Oman selects IHS Operational Risk Solution

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

IHS has announced that Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the Sultanate’s leading exploration and production energy company has selected the HIS Operational Risk SolutionTM to support both its Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and risk assessment programs.

IHS Vice President, EHS and Sustaniability, Scott Lockhardt, has outlined that the IHS Operational Risk Solution provides powerful automated tools that enable comprehensive operational risk management in order to turn data into knowledge for faster, more confident decision making, driving operational excellence.

Trying to manage all of the inherent risks in multiple systems is extremely difficult. However, PDO will use a single system to manage its HSSE data. The IHS solution provides visibility into the company’s risk profile and helps prevent losses and increase shareholder value through continuous improvement.

PDO selected the IHS Operational Risk Solution based on its ability to:

  • Integrate proactive and reactive risk related activities; incorporating automated tools to support internal and external audits, corporate risk assessments and behavioral safety observations.
  • Engage the workforce; empowering any employee or contractor to report an incident or issue and complete a risk reduction report.
  • Monitor and manage incidents across the lifecycle; enabling managers to prioritise events, and insure incident reporting processes are completed consistently.
  • Implement the HighLearning Value Events Process; helping to identify low severity, high frequency, events to mitigate repeat incidents.
